Editorial
Dear Readers,
Here you read the 9th Edition . on of Sloughi World. Canicular
Days! Now we left them behind This popular expression indicates
the time between 23. July and 23. August. The Egyptians called these
days at the beginning of the Sothi Year the Canicular Days. Three
millenniums B.C. the Egyptians worshiped the fixed star Sirius,
by the name Sothis, as their God.
Some people think that unusual hot days, like we had this summer,
don't do any harm to an Oriental Sighthound. As people think they
are originally used to the hot climate and a short run on the racing
course wouldn't hurt them. An error. It must be scrutinised very
carefully what temperature there is and in what general state a
dog is, before it may run. In the countries of origin there is also
no hunting in the noon-heath.
After this "hot" excursus I should like to wish you a
lot of fun with the new edition of Sloughi-World.
