Kennel-Portrait: Magistère Sloughis in France

My acquaintance with Sloughis began in 1980. A friend a Rider,
entrusted to me a Sloughi-male-dog, sand-coloured with a black mask,
given to him by his veterinary who had saved him from unscrupulous
people.
This first and beautiful Sloughi, but unfortunately also a tramp
and passionate chicken-hunter had accompanied me for several years.

Having been in touch with Mr. Brandilly, the President of the SLAG
(French Sloughi Club), the Sloughi-bitch Urgande joined us and Solonka
followed soon (bred by Mr. Sertier, descending from Rey-Przezdziecki)
and who also had an adventurous past with several changes of place.
In 1987 Ben Bahram Blidah joined the community. Only Solonka and
Ben Bahram Blida entered in the Breed, at first by the kennel-name
of our friends Mr. Lignon and Mr. Canivenq. They were the base of
our breeding. Another bitch, Guenize, sand-coloured and black-coated
completed our breed in 1991.
Then we decided to breed under our own kennel-name "Magistère"
and now we have the fourth generation. We are supported and advised
by our friends Mrs. Agnes Rey-Przezdziecka with the kennel de la
Horde d'Or, and Montouchet de la Horde d'Or and Bernard Lignon and
Maurice Canivenq with the kennel Ben Bahram. Our aim is to continue
their work and to preserve the original type of the Sloughi. Although
both of these kennels do not have many litters any more, nevertheless
they set scale for our breeding.

In recent years the litters fulfilled all of our expectations.
From each of them there was a winner like Magistère P'tit
Boheme French Champion and FCI Europe-Winner 2002. We set a high
value on type, gait and size. Our colours are: sand, dun, and sand
black-coated. We particularly emphasise this multiplicity as it
is established in the race-pattern and the Sloughi isn't just to
be seen sand-coloured with a black mask. The different colours are
part of the genetic width which is to be preserved. Our Sloughis
are sociable from the beginning as they live together with us and
harmonise, settled with our second passion, the Italian Whippet.
We do train our Italian Sighthounds and our Sloughis each week on
the racing-course and daily we give them a run on long walks in
the landscape of our Department Lot in the south of France.
